Solar Bird Feeders - Combine a Feeder with Landscape Lighting

Solar powered bird feeders. What a concept! You have to wonder what it is that they need the solar power for. It’s not like it has a motor like one of the Droll Yankees squirrel proof feeders. And it doesn’t have a working fountain like some of the solar bird baths you see.

It turns out that these solar bird feeders combine a couple of elements for dressing up your backyard. It has a nice decorative bird feeder, some are styled like a lighthouse, others can function as not only a feeder but a bird bath as well. So they do the job as far as functioning as a bird feeder. But in addition, they add a solar powered landscape light to the feeder, so the solar panels charge the batteries during the day. Then at night you get soft landscape light, sometimes from the bottom, occasionally from the top of the feeder. It adds a nice feature, and it doesn’t need to work all night long, so you don’t have to be extremely careful about where you put it, but like any solar powered device these feeders will work better when put where there are several hours a day of sunlight to power the batteries.

There are also a few bird baths that do the same basic idea of combining landscape lighting with a bird bath.

A solar powered bird feeder, a nice idea for the garden or backyard.
