Propane Fire Pits - Propane Makes a Perfect Outdoor Fire Pit

A fire pit is a great addition to your backyard. For many years fire pits have been the main gathering area in back yards around the country. But these days with all the concerns about outdoor burning and the burn bans that many communities have it seems that it’s more bother than it’s worth. But a propane fire pit can solve many of these problems.

With a propane fire pit you address many of the problems with the traditional fire pit. Some advantages of propane pits you may want to consider. By the way, many of these advantage will apply to an outdoor gas fire pit as well.

Ease of starting - No need to mess with kindling or newspapers. You turn on the gas and light the flame, some pits come with a built in ignitor so that you don’t have to keep a lighter on standby somewhere. And once the fire is started, you can easily control it so you don’t end up with a raging fire that’s throwing off sparks to light up the yard or the neighbors. Some pits are sized so you can actually use the table the pit is in while it is burning if you turn down the flame. Or you can adjust it to just the right level for cooking.

No woodpile - You don’t have to buy and store the wood for the pit, and don’t have to worry about keeping it dry, or letting green wood dry out and age.

No ashes to clean up - Simply turn off the gas, and the job is done. No ashes to clean out and throw out or on the garden.

Almost no smoke - Don’t worry about you guests or the neighbors, gas puts off very little smoke when burning.

In addition, with propane, you can put the fire pit almost anywhere, and hide the propane tank near the pit. Since most of them use a small propane tank like those used on many home BBQ pits, they are easy to refill or exchange (in our area every other store seems to have the Blue Rhino exchange program). They are inexpensive enough that you can keep a spare around for when you run out.
